As the unseasonal December ’18 snowstorm bore down on the Piedmont, a dedicated team of volunteers gathered on Saturday, December 8 to plant native shrubs, grasses and plants on the Piedmont Patch demonstration site at the Episcopal Church of the Advocate. Under the skillful direction of native landscape designer Ben Skelton, volunteers from area garden clubs, the New Hope Audubon Society, the neighborhood and the church learned planting techniques and experienced how native gardens may be included in any residential or commercial design, regardless of the size or location. We are grateful to Piedmont Patch partner New Hope Audubon Society for donating some of the plants, and to a Stewardship of Creation grant from the Episcopal Church for funding support.
